The Club was founded in 1977 by a few local archers, and as the sport continues to gain popularity the club has remained healthy ever since. Our members ages range from eight to over eighty, with archery being one of the more accessible sports for archers at all levels.
Our members enjoy indoor and outdoor target archery and we welcome several bow types. Barebow, compound, and freestyle recurve archery is popular in our club, as well as longbow. Note, we do not allow crossbow. We encourage archers of all levels in our club, from complete beginners to County level and beyond; we are proud to boast that some of our archers hold County records, are past and present County champions and, have taken part in international competitions.
Bowmen of Darenteford is run by volunteer committee members, and with team-effort from all our members. The club has moved a few times since forming, with previous locations including Hesketh Park Sports Club and The Brent school in Dartford. We were one of first archery clubs in Kent to have a website, since 1999, with a major redesign in 2024.
